SHIVANI THALASSEMIA OUTREACH PROGRAM

Launched on 22/08/2021 – day of Raksha Bandhan

1. Identifying Consultant Paediatricians all over Anand & Nadiad District who are willing to give regularly free Blood transfusions to these patients

2. Identifying needy (non affording) patients of Thalassemia Major

3. Creating a data base of these patients – name, age, address, contact number, place of regular Blood transfusion etc.

4. Helping these patients for receiving, administrating and managing for regular blood transfusions free of cost – contacting Indian Red Cross Society at Anand & other places for free supplying of PCV units.

5. Financial help to patients for receiving oral & parenteral iron chelating agents. Contacting local government body for adequate supply of these chelating agents.

6. Financial help to patients for their blood investigations as well as radiological investigations – Contacting our local Consultant Pathologists & Radiologists friends to provide these at concessional rates.

7. Financial help to needy patients for their education too.

8. Educate relatives about the disease and about tackling its complications

9. Preventing birth of Thalassemic child by doing camps & taking lectures in colleges & community.

We are extremely glad & humbled by active participation of various paediatricians of Gujarat for our STOP project. We are extremely thankful to Dr Anita Kothiala, Dr Dipak Karia, Dr Nilesh Banker, Dr Kanak Panchani, Dr Sachin Arora, Dr Mohsin Memon, Dr Mrugen Mehta & Dr Mishwari Patel from Anand. We are extremely thankful to Dr Bhaven Shah from Nadiad, Dr Chirag Sheth from Umreth & Dr Yagnesh Suthar from Borsad. Also, we are thankful to Dr Nikhil Sheth for his active involvement in this project.

We are privileged to have guidance & support from Dr Deepa H Trivedi, who is paediatric haemato-oncologist and is actively attached with SANKALP INDIA FOUNDATION, which caters to Thalassemia patients countrywide. We are also blessed to have support of Dr Nidhi Bhatnagar, who is Professor & Head of IHBT Department in Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad. She is also Chair person of ISBTI Gujarat chapter.
