Observership

In the loving memories of Dr Shivani Hemant Bhatt & with the guidance & help of our overseas friends, Dr Shivani Bhatt Charitable Foundation (SBCF) has started to help, assist & guide for the Observership in USA. These services by the Foundation are absolutely free of cost & are solely intended to help meritorious students.
Following criteria are adopted to select the candidates.

[A] Mandatory Criteria –

The Medical School of graduation of the applicant should be included in World Medical Directory.
The Medical school should be in India only.
The Medical school should be recognised by Medical Council of India.
The applicant must have passed all years of MBBS course in first attempt only.
The applicant should have completed his/ her degree of MBBS not later than 2 years of the application.
The applicant must have cleared USMLE Step 1 examination in first attempt. If the exam has been given before January 2022, then the candidate should have scored minimum of 220.
This criterion is subject to changes according to the USMLE Board recommendations.
The committee has decided to prioritise the selection of candidates by following criteria…
- Both STEPS ( 1& 2 ) cleared will be given first preference.
- STEP 1 with score ( > 220 ) will be given preference.
- STEP 1 pass will be considered afterwards.
SELF DECLARATION - The applicant should download this document, sign it (two signatures) and email us the scanned copy along with the application form and other documents.

[B] Preferred Criteria –

If student has been offered the observership & he/she has accepted the observership,the IMA membership is compulsory . ( Even receipt of application is suffice in case delay to get certificate)
We strongly believe and hope that the students going for Observership in the US will, in future, give back to their mother country in some way or the other. So to have roots in their motherland, the applicant need to be a member of any branch of Indian Medical Association. The applicant need to submit us a copy of his/her IMA Membership Certificate along with the application form.
Any publication or poster presentation or research work during undergraduate level
Any other academic activities at the undergraduate level

The applicant has to download, & fill the form and email it to observership@drshivanifoundation.org along with the required documents as mentioned in the form. The applicant will be selected as per the above mentioned criteria & will be chosen by the empowered Committee of SBCF for Observership.. No communication regarding the selection process will be entertained. The Foundation strongly discourages any personal contact or influence for the said help.

The rotation experience through SBCF has been a wonderful cherishing learning process. Right from the application process guidance till the completion of the rotation, Dr Hemant Bhatt Sir had always been a pillar of support which is an added bonus in itself. During my July 2023 rotation at the NJ Primary Care Clinic in Exchange Place, Jersey City, I had an enriching learning experience. The clinic's bustling environment exposed me to a diverse patient population and a variety of pathologies. Prahlad Sir and Deval Mam, the doctors, were not only amazing individuals but also dedicated teachers, who took time amidst the busy clinic day to guide us. Their insights on USMLE and the life of a physician in the USA were invaluable. The clinic staff's friendliness and support added to the positive atmosphere. Interacting with fellow students forged lasting friendships. The overall vibe, coupled with the stunning location in Exchange Place with the New York skyline, contributed to a memorable experience. I appreciate SBCF for making this opportunity possible and extend my sincere gratitude.

I can’t thank the Foundation enough for what it has done for me. My rotation experience was not just a learning experience, it was a life-changing one. I had the opportunity to meet some amazing people, Dr. Deval Ma'am and Dr.Prahlad Sir. Deval Ma’am is beyond what I had heard from others. Ma’am treated us like her own children and taught us how to communicate confidently with patients. Ma’am helped me improve my communication skills and how to adapt to the residency culture in the USA. I had an incredible experience during my rotation and made some wonderful friends, who are now like my family members. Coming from a small farmer family, agency rotations were not financially feasible for me, so I am especially grateful for everything you have done for me. Thank you so much, sir, from the bottom of my heart. May God give you more power to continue doing good work. I would love to help the Shivani Bhatt Foundation in any way possible to pay tribute to Late Dr. Shivani 🙏.
