AIDING COLOURS:A Mission for Colour Blindness Awareness, Screening & Support.
At Dr. Shivani Bhatt Charitable Foundation, we believe that every child deserves a fair chance to learn and grow—without invisible barriers holding them back. One such barrier is Colour Vision Deficiency (CVD), or colour blindness), a condition that often goes unnoticed but can significantly impact a child’s education and daily life.
To address this, we launched the Aiding Colours Initiative, conducting primary colour blindness screenings for more than 8,000 students across government and private schools in Anand and peripheral area. Using the Ishihara Chart, we successfully identified 110 students with mild to severe colour blindness, ensuring they receive the support they need. We have also prepared simple, easy-to-understand awareness materials in Gujarati and English for students, teachers and parents.
Many children with colour blindness struggle without even realizing why—mixing up colours in classrooms, facing challenges in science and art, and even struggling with career choices later in life. By detecting colour vision deficiency early, we empower students, parents, and teachers with the right knowledge and tools to help children adapt.
• Confirmatory Evaluations – Identified students are guided toward ophthalmologists for further testing and support.
• Awareness & Inclusion – We continue to educate schools and communities about colour blindness and its impact.
• Support & Solutions – We work with educators to create learning environments that are more inclusive for colourblind students.
At Dr. Shivani Bhatt Charitable Foundation, we are committed to ensuring no child is left behind due to an unseen challenge. If you're a parent, educator, or healthcare professional who wants to support this initiative, we'd love to hear from you!
Together, let's bring clarity, awareness, and opportunity to every child’s future.
