Dr. Jaykumar Vasantbhai Oza

First of all, I would like to thank you for providing rotations during this difficult time of the covid pandemic in which finding rotation is very arduous. I count you among my blessings. Without you and SBCF, it would never be trouble free journey during this rotations.

I am delighted to share my experience of internal medicine observership under Dr.Prahlad Gadhvi in New Jersey.

During my initial days, I was pretty nervous because this was my first experience, but Dr. Gadhvi knows very well how to handle it and within a couple of days, my nervousness was gone. Dr. Gadhvi always says that confidence is the key to success in the United States. If you are confident enough, you will definitely find your way. Dr. Gadhvi’s friendly nature was the key to my confidence being built. In my rotations of four weeks under Dr. Gadhvi, I learned the most important thing, EHR. From the very first day, he helped me with how to use it and how it would help in my upcoming journey. Even though asking silly questions regarding EHR use, Dr. Gadhvi always politely explained every queries. After attending every patient, Dr. Gadhvi explained the patient’s condition and treatment plan with all guidelines and practical approaches. In between free time, he taught me ECG along with all pathophysiology, which was very difficult for me from medical school time. I also observed and learned about different skin diseases, cardiac murmurs, health maneuvers. The best thing about him is the critical thinking for all types of health conditions and the way he explained things to the patient with pen and paper.

In between my rotations, I had my OET exam, and my rotations under Dr.Gadhvi’s clinic helped me a lot, particularly in the speaking and listening parts. Dr. Gadhvi helped me with how to communicate with patients empathetically and precisely. By observing his way of talking and listening to the patient, I also learned why it is most important in healthcare.

After 4-weeks rotation with Dr. Gadhvi, I had the good fortune to observe under the guidance of Dr. Rakesh Shah, an Interventional Cardiologist at Bay Area Heart, for 4 weeks. Dr Shah is very humble and with best work ethics and communication skills. I was able to establish a good relationship with the office staff and Dr. Shah. Success story of Dr. Shah’s motivated me a lot for upcoming challenges. Dr shah took me with himself to observe cardiac procedure like angiography and stent placement. The best thing about Dr. Shah was that even after a procedure, Dr. Shah never forgot to teach about different clinical scenario for the procedure and helped me to identify pathology in the angiography. Meeting some wonderful people and making excellent connections was a wonderful experience for me. Without Dr.Bhatt and Dr. Patel, it would be a never event for me in my life. I am grateful to you for all your efforts. You always take care of all individuals like me, even though we are all in different parts of the USA. The way you care about us is to feel like parents. I appreciate you and SBCF for pursuing this kind of help. Even though Shivani is not with us, she always gives her blessing to us from heaven. I would love to help everyone who take part in this process.
