Dr. Prachi Parikh

During my observership at Bay Area Heart in Houston, I had the incredible opportunity to rotate with various cardiologists, each providing unique insights. Dr. Rakesh Shah sir was particularly kind and encouraging. His detailed explanations of patient cases, including ECGs and diagnoses, were invaluable to my learning.

I also attended noon lectures featuring faculty from HCA Healthcare Clear Lake and other hospitals, which were immensely informative. In the hospital, I witnessed procedures like percutaneous interventions, TAVR, intravascular ultrasound, mechanical thrombectomy, cardiac catheterization, and the Watchman device—many of which I had only read about in textbooks.

Rounding with Dr. Shah in the CICU and CVCU was an eye-opening experience. I also had the chance to work with nurse practitioners, round in general wards, and even observe open-heart surgery upon request. Everyone I encountered—from medical assistants to echo technicians—was eager to share their knowledge. Their friendliness and support made a significant impact.

I want to thank Dr. Rakesh Shah sir for his mentorship and for broadening my understanding of cardiology. I also extend my sincere gratitude to Dr. Hemant sir and the Shivani Bhatt Charitable Foundation for providing us students with this invaluable opportunity to explore medicine in a different country. Without your guidance, many aspects of medicine would have remained unexplored for me. Thank you sir for everything.
