Dr. Anjali Agrawal

I am writing to express my gratitude to Dr. Hemant Bhatt and the SBCF team for their invaluable support in helping many students, including myself, to keep their first step on the land of States. Amidst the mental and emotional challenges, I embarked on my USMLE journey. As I navigated the checklist for applying to residency programs, I encountered the crucial requirement of US Clinical Experience (USCE). During my search for USCE opportunities, I realized how invaluable it is to have that one hand with reliable and trustworthy doctors, as well as a supportive group of aspirants, to guide you and motivate you to continue on this path. That one hand of Dr Hemant Bhatt played a pivotal role in smoothing my path.

During my paediatrics rotation under Dr. Nilesh Jariwala (Dr. J), I had the privilege of observing various aspects of paediatrics care. Dr. J's clinic, located in the picturesque Wayne area of New Jersey, offers a beautiful natural setting that immediately draws you in. The warm and welcoming working atmosphere helps you quickly settle in. This is an outpatient clinic. The clinic begins its day in the morning, we start with taking vitals, charting growth, and performing routine screenings followed by brief histories and physical examination, gradually getting involved in discussions of diagnosis and further management with Dr. J’s team. This rotation provided a comprehensive overview of the field, encompassing a wide range of experiences, including routine check-ups, vaccination programs, and various screening programs in pediatric practice.

One of the most striking aspects was the holistic approach to patient care. The focus extended beyond the physical health of the child to emphasize mental, emotional, and social well-being. During the rotation, I saw patients ranging from newborns to adolescents, allowing me to understand the changing needs and approaches required to deal with different age groups and their parents. Additionally, the rotation offered insights into the administrative and ethical aspects of healthcare, covering issues such as patient confidentiality, informed consent, and healthcare disparities. Beyond the clinical experience, Dr. J understands the unique needs of International Medical Graduates (IMGs) and extends his support in every possible way. At the end of the rotation, Dr. J was more than happy to write a letter of recommendation for me, which will be invaluable as I apply for the upcoming residency cycle.

Thank you, Hemant sir, for looking after me like a father over the past few months. Words fall short of conveying how comforting and secure it made me feel. I hope to be able to give back my best to this community in the future.
